Certified Professional Midwife Licensing Bill
Establishes the educational requirements for licensure and defines the scope of practice for Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs). Their practice is defined as the management of normal pregnancies, births, postpartum care, newborn care, and preventative gynecologic care in the community setting. This includes birth centers and homebirths for normal pregnancies in healthy individuals.
Licensing community midwives is an important step in addressing birth equity, birth justice, and an individual’s right to choose the most appropriate care.
